Our Story.
Founded by award-winning actress Mkamzee Mwatela and lauded Cinematographer Andrew Mungai, 8278A Film Studio is a boutique Production Company and Story Development Lab based in Nairobi, Kenya, established in 2015.
In 2017, Scriptwriter Annette Shadeya met Mkamzee Mwatela in the writing room of international German-Kenyan co-production "Country Queen." Since then, the two have collaborated on numerous projects, earning them both nominations and critical acclaim.
Under the umbrella of 8278A Film Studio, our motivation as Writers, and Producers of visual work, has always been to tell stories true to our experience as dynamic human beings and members of the African Continent.
We believe that everyday African stories chronicling adventure, love, heartbreak, family, and identity, are deserving of a platform. We seek to honour these experiences through creating original stories that reflect our core values - stories with heart, stories to inspire, and stories that tell the truth.
